October 8, 2005 Earthquake Tragedy Still Fresh in Our Hearts, Says NA Speaker, National Disaster Preparedness and Response Capacity Needs Further Strengthening, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq

Islamabad, , 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in his message on the 21st anniversary of the devastating earthquake of , 2005, said that the tragedy of the earthquake that struck 21 years ago remains fresh in the hearts of the entire nation as a profound sorrow. He said that the loss of a large number of precious human lives and widespread destruction in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other affected areas is an unforgettable national tragedy. He also expressed solidarity with the affected families and shared their grief over the loss and hardships they endured.
 
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the unity, compassion and collective sense of responsibility demonstrated by the Pakistani nation in the aftermath of the , 2005 tragedy constituted a proud chapter in the country’s history. He said that people from across the country, relief organisations, volunteers, the armed forces and civil society came forward and actively participated in relief operations. He particularly appreciated the role of the armed forces, saying that personnel of the Pakistan Army played an active role in rescue and relief operations and provided every possible assistance to the people in the affected areas. He said that the collective efforts and unwavering commitment demonstrated during the reconstruction and rehabilitation process played a significant role in restoring normal life in the affected areas.
 
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the experience of the 2005 earthquake underscored the importance of enhanced preparedness for natural disasters and effective coordination among relevant institutions. He said that early warning systems, local-level emergency response arrangements, rescue and relief capabilities, and public awareness needed to be further strengthened to minimise the loss of life and property caused by natural disasters. He prayed that Allah Almighty grant mercy and eternal peace to all those who lost their lives in the tragedy and give their bereaved families the strength and patience to bear the loss.
 
Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah said that the , 2005 tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of human compassion, mutual cooperation and national unity. He said that effective coordination and collective efforts among the government, relevant institutions, experts and the public were essential to reducing the impact of natural disasters. He prayed that Allah Almighty grant forgiveness to those who lost their lives in the earthquake, grant patience and strength to their bereaved families, and protect Pakistan from all kinds of natural disasters.

اسلام آباد، 7 اکتوبر 2026ء: اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق نے 8 اکتوبر 2005ء کے تباہ کن زلزلے کو 21 برس مکمل ہونے کے موقع پر اپنے پیغام میں کہا ہے کہ 21 سال قبل آنے والے تباہ کن زلزلے کا سانحہ آج بھی پوری قوم کے دلوں میں گہرے دکھ کی صورت میں تازہ ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ آزاد جموں و کشمیر، خیبر پختونخوا اور دیگر متاثرہ علاقوں میں بڑے پیمانے پر انسانی جانوں کا ضیاع اور وسیع پیمانے پر تباہی ایک ناقابلِ فراموش قومی سانحہ تھا۔ انہوں نے متاثرہ خاندانوں کے دکھ اور مشکلات کو یاد کرتے ہوئے ان کے ساتھ یکجہتی کا اظہار کیا۔
 
اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق نے کہا کہ 8 اکتوبر 2005ء کے سانحے کے بعد پاکستانی قوم نے جس اتحاد، ہمدردی اور اجتماعی احساسِ ذمہ داری کا مظاہرہ کیا، وہ ملکی تاریخ کا ایک قابلِ فخر باب ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ملک بھر سے عوام، امدادی اداروں، رضاکاروں، مسلح افواج اور سول سوسائٹی نے امدادی کارروائیوں میں بھرپور حصہ لیا۔ انہوں نے مسلح افواج کے کردار کو خصوصی طور پر سراہتے ہوئے کہا کہ پاک فوج کے جوانوں نے ریسکیو اور امدادی کارروائیوں میں بھرپور حصہ لیا اور متاثرہ علاقوں میں لوگوں کو ہر ممکن مدد فراہم کی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ تعمیرِ نو اور بحالی کے اقدامات نے متاثرہ علاقوں میں زندگی کو دوبارہ معمول پر لانے میں بھرپور کردار ادا کیا۔
 
اسپیکر سردار ایاز صادق نے کہا کہ 2005ء کے زلزلے کے تجربے نے قدرتی آفات سے نمٹنے کے لیے بہتر پیشگی تیاری اور متعلقہ اداروں کے درمیان مؤثر تعاون کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ابتدائی وارننگ کے نظام، مقامی سطح پر ہنگامی صورتحال سے نمٹنے کے انتظامات، ریسکیو اور امدادی صلاحیتوں اور عوامی آگاہی کو مزید مؤثر بنانے کی ضرورت ہے تاکہ قدرتی آفات کے نتیجے میں ہونے والے جانی و مالی نقصانات کو کم سے کم کیا جا سکے۔ انہوں نے دعا کی کہ اللہ تعالیٰ پاکستان کو ہر قسم کی قدرتی آفات سے محفوظ رکھے اور قوم کو ایسے سانحات سے محفوظ رکھنے کے لیے اپنی رحمت و حفاظت کا سایہ قائم رکھے۔
 
اس موقع پر ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سید غلام مصطفیٰ شاہ نے کہا کہ 8 اکتوبر 2005ء کا سانحہ ہمیں انسانی ہمدردی، باہمی تعاون اور قومی یکجہتی کی اہمیت کا احساس دلاتا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قدرتی آفات کے نقصانات کو کم کرنے کے لیے حکومت، متعلقہ اداروں، ماہرین اور عوام کے درمیان مؤثر تعاون اور مشترکہ کوششیں ناگزیر ہیں۔ انہوں نے دعا کی کہ اللہ تعالیٰ زلزلے میں جاں بحق ہونے والے افراد کی مغفرت فرمائے، سوگوار خاندانوں کو صبر و حوصلہ عطا کرے اور پاکستان کو ہر قسم کی قدرتی آفات سے محفوظ رکھے۔
