Summer Internship 2025 Update

It is announced that applications for internship at the National Assembly Secretariat are closed. The selection process for the Summer Internship 2025 has been completed and offer letters have been issued to shortlisted candidates.

Overview

The Parliamentary Internship Program at the National Assembly of Pakistan offers a unique opportunity for young graduates to immerse themselves in the workings of the nation’s supreme legislative body. The program is designed to familiarize participants with democratic norms and parliamentary practices, enhancing their professional capacities and employability for future. This program aligns with the National Assembly’s Strategic Plan (NASP), which emphasizes on enhancing outreach of the Parliament by increasing citizen participation through youth and academic engagement.


Duration & Structure

  • Duration: 6 weeks
  • Batches: Internships are offered on a rolling basis.

          

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must have completed at least 14 years of education from a Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized institution.
  • Students enrolled in a 4-Year Undergrad Program are eligible after completing at least two years (4 semesters) or be enrolled in Master's Program in the disciplines of Law, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting,  Finance, Commerce, Statistics, Human Resources, Agriculture, Media Sciences/Mass Communication, Information Systems and Technology, social sciences or equivalent of 16 years education.
  • Students must have minimum 60% marks where percentage system applies or minimum 2.5 out of 4.00 CGPA, where GPA system is applicable.
  • Students/Graduates from the far-flung areas of Balochistan, Sindh, Sountern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, erstwhile FATA, Azad Jammu & Kashmir And Gilgit Baltistan are encouraged to apply.
  • The maximum age limit for applicants is 30 years.


Internship Features

  • Hands-On Experience: Gain practical experience by working closely with various departments within the National Assembly.

  • Mentorship: Receive guidance from experienced professionals to help navigate your career path.
  • Certification: Upon successful completion, interns receive an Internship Completion Certificate from the National Assembly Secretariat.
  • Orientation/Training: 3-5 days orientation/training at the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) Islamabad

Expectations & Requirements

  • Attendance: Interns must maintain at least 85% attendance to successfully complete the internship.
  • Full-Time Commitment: Interns are expected to commit full-time to the program, working 5 days a week for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • Adherence to Rules: Interns must follow all relevant rules and regulations of National Assembly Secretariat, including formal dress code, confidentiality and discipline.
  • Non-Partisan Engagement: Interns are strictly advised to stay non-partisan and impartial during the internship period.
