Islamabad, 1 September 2026:Member of the German Bundestag, Mr. Christoph Schmid called on Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah at the Parliament House, Islamabad, on Tuesday. The matters pertaining to bilateral relations between Pakistan and Germany, parliamentary cooperation, economic engagement and important regional issues were discussed in the meeting. 

 

While extending a warm welcome to Mr. Christoph Schmid, Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its longstanding friendly relations with Germany. He said that Pakistan and Germany enjoy cordial relations based on mutual respect, trust and cooperation in diverse fields, with considerable potential for further strengthening bilateral ties.

 

The NA Deputy Speaker said that parliamentary delegations and exchanges between the two countries had remained active in the past; however, such engagement had declined following the COVID-19 pandemic. He underscored the need to revive and further strengthen interaction between the Parliaments of Pakistan and Germany, observing that parliamentary diplomacy could play an important role in further consolidating bilateral relations.

 

Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah recalled the visit of the then Speaker of the German Bundestag, Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, to Pakistan in 2014 and described it as an important milestone in parliamentary relations between the two countries. He noted that interactions and exchanges with representatives from different segments of Pakistani society during the visit had contributed significantly towards strengthening mutual understanding and people-to-people contacts.

 

The Deputy Speaker appreciated Germany's humanitarian assistance to Pakistan during the devastating floods of 2010 and acknowledged Germany's support during natural disasters and other regional challenges. He said that Pakistan deeply values Germany's assistance as well as its positive and constructive approach towards regional developments.

 

Highlighting Pakistan's natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and geographical and cultural diversity, the Deputy Speaker said that the country offered vast opportunities for investment in tourism and various other economic sectors. He invited German investors and the business community to explore and benefit from the investment opportunities in Pakistan.

 

Mr. Christoph Schmid thanked the Deputy Speaker for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him at Parliament House.

 

Both leaders agreed that enhanced parliamentary engagement and stronger people-to-people contacts could provide new impetus to bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Germany.

 

Mr. Christoph Schmid appreciated Pakistan's positive and constructive role in promoting peace, dialogue and de-escalation in the region. In the context of recent tensions in the Middle East, he commended Pakistan's diplomatic and mediation efforts and said that Pakistan's initiatives to promote dialogue and engagement among different countries had received attention and appreciation at the international level.

 

The German parliamentarian said that Pakistan had an important role to play in the promotion of peace and dialogue.

 

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to exploring new avenues for further strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, economic cooperation and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and Germany.

 

Special Secretary, Special Initiatives, Syed Shamoon Hashmi, was also present on the occasion.

پاک۔جرمنی پارلیمانی تعلقات، باہمی تعاون اور علاقائی صورتحال پر تبادلہ خیال

 

اسلام آباد، یکم ستمبر 2026: ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سید غلام مصطفیٰ شاہ سے جرمن پارلیمنٹ (جرمن بنڈس ٹاگ) کے رکن کرسٹوف شمڈ نے منگل کے روز پارلیمنٹ ہاؤس اسلام آباد میں ملاقات کی۔ ملاقات میں پاکستان اور جرمنی کے درمیان دوطرفہ تعلقات، پارلیمانی روابط، اقتصادی تعاون اور اہم علاقائی امور پر تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا۔ ملاقات میں اسپیشل سیکرٹری برائے خصوصی اقدامات سید شمون ہاشمی بھی موجود تھے۔

 

جرمن رکن پارلیمنٹ کرسٹوف شمڈ کا خیرمقدم کرتے ہوئے ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سید غلام مصطفیٰ شاہ نے کہا کہ پاکستان جرمنی کے ساتھ اپنے دیرینہ اور دوستانہ تعلقات کو بڑی اہمیت دیتا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان اور جرمنی کے درمیان تعلقات باہمی احترام، اعتماد اور مختلف شعبوں میں تعاون پر مبنی ہیں، جنہیں مزید مضبوط بنانے کے وسیع مواقع موجود ہیں۔

 

ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے کہا کہ ماضی میں دونوں ممالک کے پارلیمانی وفود اور اراکین پارلیمنٹ کے درمیان روابط اور تبادلے کا سلسلہ جاری رہا، تاہم کورونا وبا کے بعد اس میں کمی آئی۔ انہوں نے دونوں ممالک کی پارلیمانوں کے درمیان روابط کو دوبارہ فعال اور مزید مؤثر بنانے کی ضرورت پر زور دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ پارلیمانی سفارت کاری دوطرفہ تعلقات کو مزید مستحکم کرنے میں اہم کردار ادا کر سکتی ہے۔ 

 

ڈپٹی سپیکر سید غلام مصطفیٰ شاہ نے 2014 میں جرمن بنڈس ٹاگ کے اُس وقت کے اسپیکر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوربرٹ لامیرٹ کے دورۂ پاکستان کا ذکر کرتے ہوئے اسے دونوں ممالک کے درمیان پارلیمانی تعلقات میں ایک اہم سنگ میل قرار دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اس دورے کے دوران مختلف شعبہ ہائے زندگی سے تعلق رکھنے والی پاکستانی شخصیات سے ملاقاتوں اور تبادلۂ خیال نے دونوں ممالک کے درمیان باہمی روابط کو فروغ دینے میں اہم کردار ادا کیا۔

 

ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے 2010 کے تباہ کن سیلاب کے دوران پاکستان کے لیے جرمنی کی انسانی ہمدردی پر مبنی معاونت کو سراہتے ہوئے کہا کہ قدرتی آفات اور علاقائی چیلنجز کے دوران جرمنی کی جانب سے پاکستان کے ساتھ تعاون قابلِ تحسین ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان جرمنی کی معاونت اور علاقائی صورتحال کے حوالے سے اس کے مثبت اور تعمیری رویے کو قدر کی نگاہ سے دیکھتا ہے۔

 

ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے پاکستان کی قدرتی خوبصورتی، بھرپور ثقافتی ورثے اور جغرافیائی و ثقافتی تنوع کا ذکر کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پاکستان میں سیاحت سمیت مختلف اقتصادی شعبوں میں سرمایہ کاری کے وسیع مواقع موجود ہیں۔ انہوں نے جرمن سرمایہ کاروں اور کاروباری برادری کو پاکستان میں موجود سرمایہ کاری کے مواقع سے استفادہ کرنے کی دعوت دی۔

 

جرمن رکن پارلیمنٹ کرسٹوف شمڈ نے پارلیمنٹ ہاؤس آمد پر پرتپاک استقبال اور مہمان نوازی پر ڈپٹی اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ 

 

دونوں رہنماؤں نے اس بات پر اتفاق کیا کہ پارلیمانی روابط اور عوامی سطح پر باہمی روابط کے فروغ سے پاکستان اور جرمنی کے درمیان دوطرفہ تعاون کو نئی جہت مل سکتی ہے۔

 

جرمن رکن پارلیمنٹ کرسٹوف شمڈ نے خطے میں امن، مذاکرات اور کشیدگی کے خاتمے کے لیے پاکستان کے مثبت اور تعمیری کردار کو سراہا۔ انہوں نے مشرق وسطیٰ میں حالیہ کشیدگی کے تناظر میں پاکستان کی سفارتی اور ثالثی کی کوششوں کو قابلِ تحسین قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ مختلف فریقین کے درمیان مذاکرات اور رابطوں کے فروغ کے لیے پاکستان کی کوششوں کو عالمی سطح پر بھی توجہ اور پذیرائی حاصل ہوئی ہے۔

 

جرمن رکن پارلیمنٹ نے کہا کہ امن کے قیام، تنازعات کے پرامن حل اور مختلف فریقین کے درمیان مکالمے کے فروغ کے لیے پاکستان کا کردار اہم ہے۔

 

دونوں رہنماؤں نے پاکستان اور جرمنی کے درمیان پارلیمانی سفارت کاری، اقتصادی تعاون اور عوامی روابط کو مزید فروغ دینے کے لیے نئے مواقع تلاش کرنے کے عزم کا اظہار کیا۔
