NA Standing Committee on Government Assurances asks for Concerted Efforts to reclaim the encroached ETPB Land in district Nankana Sahib

Islamabad; , 2026: National Assembly Standing Committee on Government Assurances expressing its concern on the state of encroachment of Avacuee Trust Property in District Nankana Sahib has called for concerted efforts by Avacuee Trust Property Board and District Administration for eviction of encroachers. The Committee also asked the Avacuee Trust Management to submit a report on the land occupied by the government departments without permission and paying rent of the land. The Committee decided to again take up the issue in it's next meeting.The Committee met under the Chairpersonship of Ms. Nuzhat Sadiq, MNA in Parliament House, this afternoon.
The Committee was discussing assurance given by Minister for Religious Affairs on a calling attention moved by Dr. shazra Mansab Ali Khan, MNA regarding encroachment on ETPB land in Nankana Sahib. The Committee was apprised that pursuant to a scheme specifically designed for addressing the issue related to Nankana Sahib, the regularision was available to those who meet the condition of holding physical possession of the land before 2010, clearance of all rents and dues from or from actual date of occupation or possession verified through authentic documentation or a valid court order. The Chairman ETPB further informed that simultaneously efforts were underway to retrieve the encroached land through administrative actions. The Deputy Commissioner and District Police Officer Nankana Sahib both apprised the Committee about the assistance rendered to the ETPB for retrieving the encroached land. 
 
The Committee asked the ETPB management to take the elected representatives of the District, on board before taking any action against the encroachments. The Committee also asked the ETPB to take up the issue with electricity and gas company for not providing electricity and gas meters to encroachers. 
 
The Committee while talking up assurance by Minister for Heath Services regarding payment of minimum wages to paramedical staff in private hospitals in Islamabad decided call ICT labour department to discuss th issue. The Committee was apprised that the payment of minimum wages does not fall under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Health. 
 
The Committee commended the Higher Education commission and Ministry of Foreign for devising online degree verification system. The Committee was of the view that the system would benefit the students who earlier had to go through a cumbersome procedure for atteststion of their degrees. The Committee was discussing assurance given by Minister for federal education regarding attestation process of educational degrees.
 
The Committee while concluding the meeting asked the Ministry of Health to carryout an assessment exercise to ascertain the housing societies or locatilites having no direct access to healthcare facilities. The Committee decided to discuss the assurance in it's next meeting. 
 
The meeting was attended by MNAs; Raja Qamar Ul Islam, Syed Javed Ali Shah Jillani, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, Ms. Shahida Rehmani, Mr. Hameed Hussain, Ms. Sofia Saeed Shah (through zoom), Ms. Asia Naz Tanoli, MNA/ Mover; Secretaries of the concerned Ministries and senior officials of the concerned departments.
