Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs meets

Islamabad, 30th June, 2026 - A meeting of the Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs was held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, MNA, in Committee Room No. 7 (4th Floor), Parliament House, Islamabad. 
 
2. The Secretary Parliamentary Affairs briefed the Committee on the performance of Prime Minister Public Affairs and Grievance Wing (PM’s PA&GW) highlighting its achievements, recent initiatives and future plans aimed at strengthening citizen engagement and the public grievance redressal mechanism. The Committee was informed that the Wing received 18,590 complaints during the period from 1st July 2025 to 24th June 2026, of which 17,104 complaints were disposed of, achieving an overall disposal rate of 92 percent. The PA&GW witnessed an increase in complaint from17,975 in 2024–25 to 18,590 in 2025–26, reflecting enhanced public confidence in the Pakistan Citizens' Portal and greater awareness of the grievance redressal system.
 
3. The Secretary further informed the Committee that the Wing had undertaken several initiatives to improve public service delivery by enhancing accessibility, visibility and citizen outreach which includes nationwide awareness campaigns and the introduction of the dedicated short code 1733 for complaint registration. It was also highlighted that dedicated Flood Relief Desks were established in the flood-affected districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the 2025 floods, where grievances relating to compensation, rehabilitation and livelihood restoration were registered and actively pursued with the relevant authorities. community focal persons were engaged and special facilitation was provided to vulnerable citizens to ensure timely and effective relief.
 
4. The Chairman appreciated the efforts of the Prime Minister Public Affairs and Grievance Wing (PM’s PA&GW) in strengthening the public grievance redressal mechanism and acknowledged the progress made in expanding citizen outreach. However, he emphasized that the ultimate measure of success lies in the timely and effective resolution of public grievances. He stressed that the PM’s PA&GW must continue to prioritize public relief by ensuring that grievance redressal remains responsive, efficient and citizen-centric.
 
5. The meeting was attended by Ms. Muneeba Iqbal, Ms. Gulnaz Shahzadi, Ms. Shazia Fareed, Mr. Naveed Aamir, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, Mr. Hameed Hussain and Ms. Naeema Kishwer Khan. The Secretary Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and other senior officers of the Ministry of Railways and National Highway Authority (NHA) also attended the meeting.
