NA STANDING COMMITTEE ON CABINET SECRETARIAT CALLS FOR STRICT ADHERENCE TO THE MONETISATION POLICY OF THE GOVERNMENT
ASKS TO CHECK PERVASIVE USE OF OFFICIAL VEHICLES FOR PRIVATE USE
TAKING COGNISANCE OF HEFTY FEES BEING CHARGED BY ISLAMABAD CLUB SEEKS BRIEFING ON ADMINISTRATION OF THE CLUB
Islamabad , 2025: The standing committee on Cabinet Secretariat has directed Cabinet Division to ensure strict compliance to the transport monetisation policy. The Committee taking note of the huge membership fee being charged for club membership, also sought a comprehensive briefing on the administration of Islamabad Club. The committee met under the chairmanship of Malik Ibrar Ahmad, MNA in Islamabad this afternoon.
The Committee was briefed on the monetisation policy of the government through which entitled officers of the Ministries/ Divisions were given transport allowance instead of official vehicles. The decision of the government was taken to observe austerity and reduce expenditure on maintenance and fuel. The Additional Secretary Cabinet Division apprised that the policy was being strictly adhered within the Cabinet Division.
The Committee expressing its reservation on observance of the policy said that the use of official vehicles for private use was pervasive which needed to be strictly checked. The Committee recommended to Prime Minister for revisiting the policy to save public money. The Committee also sought details payment of minimum salaries to employees under Cabinet Division.
The Committee was later briefed on the role and functions of Cabinet Secretariat. The Committee was apprised that besides providing secretarial support to Cabinet, National Economic Council and follow up of their decisions, Cabinet Division also had the administrative control of Sheik Sultan Trust, NESPAK, Islamabad Club, PCB and other organisations. The Committee was further informed that Cabinet Division also had the administration of all the Regulatory bodies.
The Members of the committee were quite critical of the state of affairs in Islamabad Club and the hefty fees being charged in account of membership fees. The Committee decided to discuss the issues thereof in its next meeting. The Committee also taking serious note of the vehicle of cabinet division which went missing with the connivance of officer of the Division. The Committee directed for pursuing the case for bringing the culprits behind bars.
The Committee also stressed upon the Cabinet Division to devise such a severance package which serves the best interest of the government employees likely to be laid off in consequence of institutional reforms exercise. The Committee was apprised about the latest developments in that regard.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Ms. Tahira Aurangzeb, Ms. Nuzhat Sadiq, Ms. Farah Naz Akbar, Mr. Nelson Azeem, Mr. Irfan Ali Leghari, Syed Rafiullah, Secretary Establishment Division, Special Secretary Cabinet Division and senior Officers of the concerned departments.
