Standing Committee on Industries and Production meets

Islamabad, the 9th September, 2025; The Standing Committee on Industries and Production, while deliberating on the closure of Utility Stores Corporation (USC), expressed serious concern over the matter. However, resolved to defer further discussion, leaving thereby the final decision to the Heads of Parliamentary Parties in the National Assembly. Additionally, the Committee appointed a Sub-Committee, chaired by Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, MNA, tasked with overseeing the implementation of the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) for employees, addressing their grievances, and examining USC’s property-related matters.

While deliberating on the closure of the Utility Stores Corporation (USC), the Committee expressed serious concern over the matter. However, it resolved to defer further discussion, leaving the final decision to the Heads of Parliamentary Parties in the National Assembly. Additionally, the Committee appointed a Sub-Committee, chaired by Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, MNA, tasked with overseeing the implementation of the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) for employees, addressing their grievances, and examining USC’s property-related matters.
The Committee also considered “The Motor Vehicles Industry Development Bill, 2025”, and recommended with a majority of votes that the National Assembly may pass the said Bill.
The MNAs namely Mr. Shahid Usman, Mr. Riaz Ul Haq, Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Mr. Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Ms. Naz Baloch, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, Mr. Muhammad Saad Ullah, Mr. Haroon Akhtar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister, and the Secretary M/o Industries & Production, besides other senior officials of the ministry and its attached departments attended the meeting.
