Pakistan and Azerbaijan to forge cooperation and understanding through Parliamentary Friendship Groups

A meeting between the Pakistan – Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Khazar Farhadov took place today in the Parliament House, Islamabad. The meeting focused on enhancing diplomatic, economic, cultural, and trade relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, recognizing the significant potential for collaboration in diverse sectors.
 
The meeting was attended by MNAs, Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa, Mr. Danyal Chaudhary, Mr. Farhan Chishti (Virtually) and chaired by Syed Raza Ali Gillani, MNA / Convener Pakistan – Azerbaijan PFG.
 
Discussions revolved around strengthening existing partnerships and identifying new areas of cooperation across various sectors, including parliamentary collaboration, people-to-people contacts, B-B engagements and joint initiatives. The two sides exchanged views on a range of areas of mutual interest, committing to enhance cooperation across the broad spectrum of bilateral relations.
Syed Raza Ali Gillani, MNA / Convener Pakistan – Azerbaijan PFG emphasized that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relationship with Azerbaijan. He underlined the importance of working consistently to further enhance our cooperation in various fields. and significance of prioritizing the strengthening of parliamentary ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan through Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG). 
 
Members of the Pakistan – Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) discussed opportunities for expanding trade and investments ties and reiterated their dedication to advancing a comprehensive partnership that benefits both nations. The participants discussed the development of a more robust trade framework, identifying areas of mutual interest and trade facilitation mechanisms. The PFG members expressed their commitment to actively supporting policies that would improve bilateral trade and investment, as well as facilitate greater people-to-people exchanges.
 
During the meeting, H.E Mr. Khazar Farhadov highlighted the historical ties and mutual respect that Pakistan and Azerbaijan share, emphasizing the importance of expanding these relations for the benefit of both nations. He pointed to the untapped potential in sectors such as energy, agriculture, tourism, and technology, and underscored the need for joint initiatives to explore opportunities for growth and prosperity. He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s unwavering support to Azerbaijan during its conflict with Armenia and reassured Azerbaijan’s resolve to stand with Pakistan at all forums on its stance on the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJ&K).
 
Syed Raza Ali Gillani, MNA / Convener Pakistan – Azerbaijan PFG emphasized that both sides must work together to create a more favorable environment for bilateral cooperation, business, trade, and investment.
 
The Pakistan – Azerbaijan PFG pledged to work closely with the Azerbaijani and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the discussed initiatives are brought to fruition in the near future.
