Islamabad, 20th September 2024: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed his appreciation for the Pakistan Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) for their comprehensive coverage of parliamentary proceedings. He highlighted that the press gallery is an essential component of the parliament. "Journalists in the Press Gallery play a pivotal role in disseminating the proceedings of the House to the public, fulfilling an important responsibility. The National Assembly Secretariat is also  committed to providing all necessary facilities to reporters so they can perform their professional duties efficiently," said the Speaker. He expressed these remarks during his meeting with the executive body members of the PRA, led by President PRA, Mr. Usman Khan, at Parliament House, Islamabad.

Addressing queries regarding constitutional amendments, the Speaker expressed his willingness to mediate between the government and the opposition. He mentioned that while he had a general understanding of the amendment drafts, they were still in the preliminary stages. He emphasized that the initiative to establish a constitutional court had been agreed upon by all political leaders, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, under the Charter of Democracy.

In response to questions about the arrest of Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), the Speaker termed the incident unfortunate. Production orders for the arrested MNAs were issued without any consultation, and Parliament Lodges were declared a sub-jail,” he stated. The Speaker further explained that he immediately called the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad to ensure that the arrested members were treated with dignity and respect. The members, who were brought to attend the session under production orders, personally expressed their gratitude.

The speaker also noted that in the previous government, production orders for detained members were not issued. He commended the roles of Federal Ministers Azam Nazir Tarar and Mohsin Naqvi for their handling of the situation and informed the media that an initial report on the matter had already been prepared

While discussing the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the Speaker clarified that the PAC belongs to all parties, not just one. He stated that the opposition had been repeatedly requested to submit a panel of names for the chairmanship, as per tradition. Regarding the scheduling of National Assembly sessions, the Speaker reiterated that the authority to convene or adjourn a session lies with the government.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also acknowledged the positive developments in the country’s economy, expressing hope that further good news on economic improvements would emerge during the current government's term.

 
 

*اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سے پی آر اے پی کی ایگزیکٹیو باڈی کے عہدیداران کی ملاقات۔*

اسلام آباد، 20، ستمبر، 2024؛اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی سردار ایاز صادق سے پارلیمانی رپورٹرز ایسوسی ایشن آف پاکستان کے ایگزیکٹو باڈی کے عہدیداران کے وفد کی صدر پی آر اے عثمان خان کی سربراہی میں ملاقات۔ملاقات میں پارلیمان کی کی کوریج  کرنے والے صحافیوں سمیت باہمی دلچسپی کے امور پر گفتگو کی گئی۔اسپیکر نے پی آر اے کی پارلیمانی کوریج میں کردار کو سراہتے ہوئے کہا کہ پریس گیلری پارلیمان کا اہم جزو ہے۔ پریس گیلری میں بیٹھے صحافی حضرات ہاؤس کی کارروائی کو عوام تک پہنچا کر اہم فریضہ سر انجام دے رہے ہیں۔میری کوشش ہے پریس گیلری کے رپورٹرز کو پیشہ ورانہ زمہ داریوں کو احسن طریقے سے سر انجام دینے کیلئے ہر ممکن سہولت فراہم کی جائے۔ اسپیکر نے آئینی ترامیم کے معاملے پر بات کرتے ہوئے وہ حکومت اور اپوزیشن کے مابین مصالحت کروانے میں کردار ادا کرنے کیلئے تیار ہیں۔انہوں نے کہا کہ آئینی ترامیم کے مسودے سے انہیں عمومی علم تھا یہ صرف ایک ابتدائی ڈرافٹ تھا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ آئینی عدالت بنانے کے معاملے پر چارٹر آف ڈیموکریسی پر مولانا فضل الرحمان سمیت سب کے دستخط موجود ہیں۔

اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی نے میڈیا کے نمائندوں کے سوالوں کا جواب دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ اراکین قومی اسمبلی کی گرفتاری کا واقعہ بدقسمتی پر مبنی ہے۔میرے بطور رکن قومی اسمبلی اس نوعیت کے تین واقعات ہوئے جس میں 2014، پارلیمان لاجز اور اب کی گرفتاری کا واقعہ شامل ہے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ انہوں نے بغیر کسی مشاورت کے گرفتار اراکین کے پروڈکشن آرڈرز جاری کیے اور پارلیمنٹ لاجر کو سب جیل قرار دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ آئی جی اسلام آباد کو تمام پارٹیوں کی قیادت کے ساتھ بٹھایا اور ممبران کو لاک اپ کے بجائے باعزت طریقے سے کمروں میں بیٹھایا۔ پروڈکشن اڈرز پر اجلاس میں شرکت کیلئے لائے جانے والے گرفتار اراکین میرے چیمبر میں آئے اور میرا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ اسپیکر نے مزید کہا کہ سابقہ دور حکومت میں گرفتار اراکین کے پروڈکشن اڈرز جاری نہیں کیے جاتے تھے۔اسپیکر نے گرفتار اراکین کے معاملے پر وفاقی وزرا اعظم نزیر تارڑ اور محسن نقوی کے کردار کو سراہا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ گرفتار اراکین کے معاملے پر ابتدائی رپورٹ تیار ہو چکی ہے اور جلد مکمل رپورٹ بھی تیار ہو جائے گی۔انہوں نے کہا کہ میری کوشش ہوتی ہے کہ اپوزیشن اراکین کو ایوان میں زیادہ سے زیادہ بولنے کا موقع ملا اور قومی اسمبلی سیکرٹریٹ کا ریکارڈ اس بات کا گواہ ہے کہ میری اسپیکر شپ کے دوران حکومتی بینچوں کی نسبت اپوزیشن کو زیادہ ٹائم دیا گیا ہے۔انہوں نے پبلک اکاؤنٹس کمیٹی کے چیئرمین شپ کے حوالے سے بات کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پی اے سی سب جماعتوں کی ہے کسی ایک جماعت کی نہیں ہے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ روایات کے مطابق پی اے سی کی چیئرمین شپ کیلئے بار بار اپوزیشن کو چیئرمین شپ کیلئے ناموں کا پینل کیلئے کہا گیا۔قومی اسمبلی کا سیشن بلانے یا ملتوی کرنے کا اختیار حکومت کے پاس ہے۔ملکی معیشت کے بارے میں بات کرتے ہوئے اسپیکر نے کہا کہ افراط زر اور شرح سود میں کمی آئی ہے، برآمدات میں اضافے کی خبر خوش آئند ہیں۔امید ہے کہ موجود دور حکومت میں معشیت کے حوالے سے عوام کو مزید اچھی خبریں ملیں گی۔
