The National Assembly Standing Committee on Narcotics Control met today at 11:00 AM in Committee Room of Ministry of Narcotics Control, Kohsar Block, Pak-Secretariat, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Salahuddin Ayubi, MNA.

The meeting started with the recitation from Holy Quran. The Chairman welcomed the participants of the meeting. The Committee discuss/scrutinize the budgetary proposals of the Ministry relating to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the budget 2022-23. After detailed discussion on the projects the Committee unanimously approved all the budgetary proposal of amounting Rs. 2649.780 million in which Rs. 253.300 million for on-going projects and Rs. 2396.48 for new projects of the ministry relating to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the budget 2022-23.  

The Committee further expressed that USF/USAID funds reversed for Ex-FATA was not properly utilize for development and infrastructure. The ministry replied that funds reserved for Ex-FATA was carry forward through ministry of Narcotics Control for development but after merger of FATA in KPK these funds now directly forward to KP Development Authority and KP Government would be in better position to explain the situation. The Committee decided to hold next meeting in Peshawar and recommended to invite Chief Secretary KPK and concerned authorities in the said meeting to brief the Committee.

Besides the Federal Minister for Narcotics Control the following MNAs: Mr. Gul Dad Khan, Mr. Muhammad Ameer Sultan, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, Ms. Uzma Riaz, Ms. Nusrat Wahid, Ch. Zulfiqar Ali Bhinder, Mr. Ehsan-ul-Haq Bajwa, Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur, Ms. Shahida Akhter Ali and Officers/Officials of the Ministry and its attached Departments were present in the meeting.
