Islamabad, 24th December, 2020
The Standing Committee on Defence Production met today in Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir, MNA to discuss the formation of Research & Development Establishment (RDE).
2.    The Committee while appreciating the formation of Research & Development Establishment (RDE) directed that Ministry may avoid the possibility of retrenchment of employees during the merger process of three departments as it had been observed that employees had to compromise their seniority in this process.

3.    The Committee deemed that establishment of RDE is an attempt to avoid unnecessary procedural complications of different departments working on parallel ground for fast track delivery and it would also make a compatible entity to cope with the requirements of Pakistan in the field of defence production.

4.    The Committee directed that Ministry may take stringent measures to meet the international standards of their products in order to enhance its exports so that maximum revenue could be generated for the Country. The Committee decided to visit the sites of ongoing projects to witness their performance in near future.

Members/MNAs namely, Prince Mohammad Nawaz, Ms. Shandana Gulzar Khan, Mr. Khial Zaman, Mr. Farrukh Habib, Mr. Rahat Aman Ullah Bhatti, Mr. Saif Ur Rehman , Ms. Sajida Begum, Mr. Salahuddin, Mr. Gul Zafar Khan, Ch. Mehmood Bashir Virk, Mr. Nadeem Abbas and Mr. Irfan Ali Laghari besides, officials of the Ministry of Defence Production also attended the meeting.
