Standing Committee on Government Assurances met under the Chairmanship of Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, MNA

Ministry of Commerce should further increase exports. 

Standing Committee' decision to take action against non-cooperative officers of PTV  and Pak-Afghan Border should be opened for six days instead of four days.
 
Ministry of Commerce should further increase exports and Pak-Afghan Border should be opened for six days instead of four days. These instructions were issued during the meeting of the Standing Committee of National Assembly on Government Assurances. The meeting was held in the Parliament House. Chairman of the Standing Committee honourable Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, MNA presided over the meeting. The Standing Committee was informed that honourable Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan had given ruling to open Pak-Afghan Border for pedestrians for six days instead of four days. But Ministry of Interior could not implement the ruling. The representative of Ministry of Interior apprised the Committee that they had already taken the case with different quarters and they would open the border as per the ruling of the honourable Speaker within fifteen days. The Standing Committee directed that the compliance report, after opening of the borders, be submitted to the Committee within fifteen days. A point was raised during the meeting regarding the payment of honoraria to employees of PTV and other departments who served in the precincts of the Assembly during Budget Sessions 2018-19 and 2019-20. The Committee was told that despite several directions of the Committee regarding the payment of honoraria, as per announcement of the Government, PTV failed to pay the honoraria to its employees. Similarly, the honoraria was not paid to the employees of other attached departments of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Moreover, in previous meetings of the Committee, it was decided that if the direction of the Committee is not complied then action shall be taken against the Director, Finance and administration of PTV. But PTV did not comply the direction of the Standing Committee. Some Members of the Committee staged walkout from the meeting against regular non-cooperative attitude and disobedience of PTV. The Standing Committee showed its serious displeasure over non-payment of honoraria to the employees who served in the precincts of the Assembly. The Standing Committee asked that the last Prophet of Allah Hazrat Muhammad ï·º ordered to pay wage to a labour before his perspiration is dried. But despite the announcement of the Government why the employees have not been paid the honoraria? Standing Committee directed that the employees of PTV, the employees of other attached departments of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the employees of Police and security agencies, deployed on the security of the Parliament, be paid honoraria forthwith and report be submitted to the Standing Committee. The Standing Committee was informed that Ministry of Commerce is actively struggling to enhance the exports of Pakistani goods and products. It was informed that a wing of the Ministry is active to remove hurdles and enhance the exports. The representative of the Ministry informed that awareness seminars and programmes were arranged in this regard. The Standing Committee was apprised that during first eight months of present financial year the exports to China have been increased by sixteen percent. The Standing Committee appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Commerce and directed that commercial attachés be more activated and national exports be further enhanced. The Standing Committee directed that Ministry of Commerce should inform the Standing Committee about its steps to enhance the exports on monthly basis and its achievements in this regard on quarterly basis. The Standing Committee was apprised that in different cities of the Country housing colonies are being set up by eliminating agriculture lands and cutting of fruit trees. The Standing Committee directed that cutting of fruit trees in the country be stopped forthwith. Similarly, the housing colonies should not be built on agriculture lands rather the barren lands be used for the colonies.       
 

The meeting was presided over by the Chairman, Standing Committee of National Assembly on Government Assurances, Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar and attended by Members National Assembly Mr. Mujahid Ali, Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, Syed Mobeen Ahmed, Mr. Usman Ibrahim, Syed Javed Husnain, Mr. Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, Syed Javed Ali Shah Jillani, Ms. Saira Bano and Ms. Fauzia Behram, MNA/Mover, Mr. Najeeb ud Din Awaisi, MNA/Mover and Mr. Gul Dad Khan, MNA/Mover. Mr. Ali Muhammad Khan, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs was also present in the meeting. Additional Secretary, Commerce Division and senior civil officers also attended the meeting.
