NA Standing Committee on Ports & Shipping meets today

Islamabad, the  February 24th, 2017; 34th meeting of the Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping was held at Committee Room No. 07, Parliament House, Islamabad at 03:00 pm today, under the Chairmanship of Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, MNA. The agenda of the meeting was as under:-

i.    Confirmation of the minutes of previous meeting.
ii.    To discuss/scrutiny of the budgetary proposals relating to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) of the Ministry of Ports and Shipping and its attached departments for the financial year 2017-18 if any.

2.    The Committee offered Surah Fatiha for the Shuhda of Sehwan Sharif blast and blasts occurring in Lahore as well as in other parts of country. The Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping was briefed on PSDP for the year 2017-2018. The Committee showed its reservation on the pace of the works project related to Gwadar and CPEC. The Minister re-affirmed the commitment of the Government towards the CPEC projects and provision of electricity and water for Gwadar. The Committee was told that two new projects related to CPEC are going to be launched very soon. Briefing was also given on projects related to Marine Fisheries Department, Port Qasim Authority (PQA), Pakistan Marine Academy and Marine Biological Research Laboratory. The Committee recommended to the Government that the amount of Rs.22,358.433 million requested by the Ministry may kindly be given for the timely completion of projects related to Gwadar and CPEC. The Committee also gave its nod of approval for the ongoing projects.
 
3.    The meeting was attended by Minister Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo and the Members (MNAs) namely, Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari, Ch. Hamid Hameed, Syed Ayaz Ali Shah Sherazi, Rana Muhamamd Hayat Khan, Mr. Sohail Shoukat Butt, Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmad, Ms. Shaheen Shafiq, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Mr. Khalil George, Mir Aamir Ali Khan Magsi, Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Mr. Mohammad Salman Khan Baloch, Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar, Mr. Kanwar Naveed Jameel, Secretary, M/o Ports & Shipping and other senior officers.
