Parliamentary oversight essential to protect child rights in the country: Convener Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights MNA Mehnaz Akbar Aziz; Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights resolves to bring uniformity in Laws related to Child Rights

Islamabad: 1st December 2022; Convener Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR) MNA Ms. Mehnaz Akbar Aziz has said that parliamentary oversight is essential to protect child rights in the country. She said that children in Pakistan have been facing real challenges of child labor, child harassment, and child abuse and PCCR is to effectively intervene in the situation to bring relief to children. She expressed these views while Chairing the 2nd meeting of PCCR in Parliament House today.

While lamenting about the non-implementation of child rights and ineffective response of executive departments, MNA Mr. Qadir Khan Mandukhail stressed the need to focus on the implementation of laws related to Child rights. Furthermore, MNA Mohsin Dawar said that Children need the special focus of parliamentarians as protecting their present would ensure a bright future of the country.

The members PCCR resolve to work for effective legislation for protecting Child Rights in the country. The members also expressed concern over the absence of the head of the National Commission on Child Rights and its non- Cooperation with PCCR.
