 Türkiye, Pakistan to boost cooperation at all levels

Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, MNA and Convener of Pakistan- Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) met with H.E. Mr. Mehmet Paçacı, Ambassador of Türkiye to Pakistan on Thursday, 24th November, 2022 at 1430 hours at Turkish Embassy, Islamabad. The two sides discussed matters pertaining to bilateral cooperation.

Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, MNA said that Pakistan and Türkiye have distinct history of shared religious and cultural traditions. She condemned the explosion on Istanbul's Istiklal Street and expressed deepest condolences to the brotherly people of Türkiye at the loss of precious lives.

She expressed her desire to expand cooperation with Türkiye in multiple areas including trade, defence, education, tourism, exchange programs, women issues, sports and people -to- people relations. She underlined the need for enhanced interaction between the parliamentarians and people of both the countries for further cementing the fraternal relations between the two countries. She also thanked Türkiye's leadership for its principled support on Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik appreciated recommendations to deepen trade and economic linkages between two brotherly countries. She also discussed ways and means to achieve the target set by the both countries to take bilateral trade to USD 5 billion in next three year.

H.E. Mr. Mehmet Paçacı, Ambassador of Türkiye to Pakistan agreed to focus on strengthening bilateral institutional collaboration; enhance frequency of exchange of delegations as well as increasing high level contacts and exploring new avenues of cooperation.
