NA Standing Committee on Railways meets

Islamabad the, 23rd December, 2022; The meeting of the Standing Committee on Railways held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Mueen Wattoo, MNA on 23rd November, 2022 at 12:00 noon in Committee Room of Ministry of Railways, “D” Block Pak-Secretariat, Islamabad, with reference to Notice No. 23(1)/2022-Com-II/Railways dated the 18th December, 2022.

The meeting of the Standing Committee on Railways commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran and the Committee approved the minutes of its meeting held on 5th October, 2022.

The Implementation status on the previous recommendations was placed by the Ministry of Railways and the Committee discussed the same.

The Committee appointed the Sub-Committee with one additional TOR about the freight terminal at port Qasim along with TORs of previous Sub-Committee.

Calling attention Notice moved by Mr. Qadir Khan Mandokhail, MNA regarding handing over the administration of Railways school near Kala Pull, Karachi was discussed in detail as the Railways informed that extension has been given again for three years Committee to TCF/ICWS. The Committee pended the same for the next meeting at Karachi.

The Committee also discussed the condition of railways track after the recent flood in the country. The Committee was briefed that Railways Track in Sindh, Baluchistan and Punjab was damaged badly at ten locations and the same have been rehabilitated at seven points from the resources of Pakistan Railways and train operation is continued successfully.

The Ministry of Railways informed the Committee that after the completion of the initial period of their contract appointment, they have been given extension after every year on a regular basis and recently they have been given extension up to 09-05-2023.

Divisional Superintendent Railways, Lahore informed the Committee that the matter for de-sealing of the shops is under process as the occupants of shops were asked by Railways to deposit a fix amount along with an affidavit that upon the approval of rent policy, they will pay the outstanding rent to railways.

The representative of Multan Railways Division briefed the Committee about the grievances raised by the MNA/Member of the Committee for supply of material to railways but the Multan Division referred the case to FIA for inquiry in the matter. The same will be discussed if not resolved by the Committee of Railways.

The following MNAs, Engnr. Sabir Hussain Kaim Khani, Ch. Muhammad Hamid Hameed, Mr. Ali Pervaiz, Mr. Ramesh Lal, Dr Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla, Ms. Shahida Akhtar Ali and Mr. Qadir Khan Mandokhail, MNA/Mover besides the officials of the Ministry attended the meeting.

The meeting ended with the vote of thanks to and from the Chair.
