Speaker has been pleased to call a Joint Sitting on Thursday, the 20th October, 2022 at 4.00 p.m, instead of Thursday, the 22nd September, 2022 at 4.00 p.m. in the Parliament House, Islamabad.

Public Accounts Committe meets

A meeting of Public Accounts Committee was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Noor Alam Khan, MNA in the Parliament House to examine Appropriation Accounts for the year 2018-19 and Audit Report for the year 2019-20 pertaining to Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRAN); and Audit Report for the year 2019-20 pertaining to Ministry of Interior. 2. The meeting started with recitation from the Holy Quran. The Committee issued Directions to SAFRAN while examining Audit Para for the year 2019-20. The Committee settled 4 Grants and examined Audit paras of SAFRAN. Similarly the Committee examined highlighted Audit paras of the Ministry of Interior. The Committee issued specific and general directions to be followed by all the concerned: Accountant General Pakistan Revenues was directed to submit Audit Brief on time; The Committee directed the PAO not to merge Khasadar and levis force into police rather personals of Khasadar are more appropriate to control law and order situations especially in Tribal Areas as compared to Police; Secretary, SAFRAN to talk to UNO and UNHCR to establish Refugees camps for staying of Afghan Refugees so that anti-state activities of Afghanis could be controlled. They are defaming the name of Pakistan across the globe. The Committee also issued direction to all concerned to stop illegal activities of Afghanis. The Committee directed Secretary, Interior and Secretary SAFRAN to trace 1.4 million Afghan Refugees within 1 month and report to the Committee; The Committee expressed displeasure as to why DG(FIA)  did not come for attending meeting and directed the Secretary, Interior to bring all the heads of departments working under his control to the meeting whether agenda pertains to them or not. The Committee expressed displeasure to know that 14 officers including Chairman, NADRA are having dual nationality and working in the sensitive department like NADRA. DG (NADRA)-KPK having dual nationality is appointed near Torkham Border. He should be removed therefrom and some Colonel or retired brigadier be appointed against this post. The Committee directed the Secretary, Interior to move a summary and make legislation that no government employee can attain dual nationality. On a query Chairman NADRA replied that 34 employees having corruption charges have been terminated from service and inquiries are pending against other officers in NADRA. The Committee directed Chairman NADRA to provide a list of those who have been terminated from services from 2017 to 2022 and directed him to issue directions to concerned DGs, NADRA not to issue CNICs to Afghanis. Secretary Interior, Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs were requested to provide a list of 390 Afghanis who had chanted slogan against Pakistan in UAE after the cricket match. In the end the Committee also appreciated the quality software of NADRA being exported to other countries which is also a source of foreign exchange. The Committee directed the PAO of the Ministry of Interior to initiate a crackdown against those officers/officials appointed on dummy degrees and are working in government departments. FIRs would also be lodged against them and recoveries would be made from them. The Committee asked the Secretary, Interior to provide a list of dummy degree holders employees in the Ministry of Interior, within one month; and The Committee directed the Chief Commissioner, Islamabad to submit a comprehensive Report of all illegal housing societies in Islamabad including Ghauri Town within a month so that action could be initiated against their owners.
