The Sitting of the National Assembly has been adjourned to meet again on Saturday the 13th August, 2022 at 09:00 p.m.|In exercise of the powers conferred by proviso to rule 4 of the Parliament (Joint Sittings) Rules, 1973, the Hon. Speaker has been pleased to call a Joint Sitting on Monday, the 22nd August, 2022 at 4.00 p.m, instead of Wednesday, the 20th July, 2022 at 4.00 p.m. in the Parliament House, Islamabad.

Standing Committee on Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture meets

The Standing Committee on Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture expresses concern over non-attendance of meeting by Vice Chancellor, Islamia University of Bahawalpur and directs the Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) to ensure attendance of the said VC in the next meeting.

29th meeting of the Standing Committee on Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture held today in the Parliament House Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Syed Sami-ul-Hassan Gillani, MNA.

On an agenda item concerning missing of admission forms for BA 1st Annual of 2000 from Islamia University of Bahawalpur, the VC of the said University (Eng. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob) was required to attend the meeting of the Standing Committee today but he did not turn up and nominated Controller (Exam) of the said University to represent him in the meeting. The Committee did not allow the Controller to give any briefing on the agenda item and directed the Chairman HEC to ensure attendance of the said VC in the next meeting.

The Committee considered “The Smart Institute of Sciences and Technology Bill, 2022” (Private Member’s Bill) and recommended that the Bill may be passed by the National Assembly. However, on the Bill titled as “The National University for Security Sciences Islamabad Bill, 2022” (Private Member’s Bill), the Committee directed the HEC to get completed all the codal formalities before next meeting and deferred further consideration thereupon on the said Bill till its next meeting.
The meeting was attended by MNAs; Ms. Mehnaz Akber Aziz, Mr. Nisar Ahmed Cheema, Ch. Hamid Hameed, Mian Najeeb Ud Din Awaisi, Ms. Musarrat Asif Khawaja, Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, Dr. Samina Matloob, Ms. Mussarat Rafiq Mahesar, Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, Mr. Abdul Ghafar Wattoo, Ms. Javairia Zafar Aheer and Mr. Muhammad Aslam Bhootani, besides the Hon. Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training and senior officers of the Ministry and its Attached Departments/Organizations.
