The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs met

Islamabad; 9TH March, 2022: The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs met in Committee Room of M/o Foreign Affairs, Islamabad this afternoon, under the Chairmanship of Malik Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, MNA/Chairman.
The Committee initiated the meeting with recitation of Holy Quran thereafter prayer has been made with for the departed souls of ex-president of Pakistan Mr. Rafique Ahmed Tarar and for the father of Honorable Member Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar the Mr. Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar.
The Committee while taking briefing from the Ministry on the visits of Prime Minster to China and Russia inquired from the Ministry whether the visit to Russia was recommended by the Foreign Office or not.? The Ministry told the Committee that it was recommended by the Ministry of Foreign office and it was scheduled way before the incident of Ukraine was into anticipation. The Ministry further informed the Committee that visit to Russia was occurring after 23 years of gap, and this visit was very important for the Pakistan with regard to Afghanistan issue, for the Railway project and import of wheat for Pakistan. The Ministry vehemently denied the impression that Pakistan’s visit to Russia was for joining any bloc. Prime Minster of Pakistan has repeatedly informed the nation so as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the same view that it was not for joining any bloc.
The Committee was also briefed regarding the measures being taken by Pakistan to mitigate the terrorist attacks in future. The Ministry informed the Committee that after withdrawal of US from Afghanistan Daish has emerged and has gained strong support from the anti-Pakistan elements. Still, it is question of serious concern for Pakistan that who or what is the source of funding for Daish. Moreover, Ministry told the Committee that Afghanistan Government is in close contact with Pakistan. Afghanistan has repeatedly assured the Pakistan that soil of Afghanistan will not be used against the Pakistan or against any country whatsoever. Furthermore, The Committee was informed that 48th OIC Conference is going to be held in Islamabad, Pakistan. For the conference almost 600 delegations are expected to arrive. Kashmir is also the part of agenda of the Conference. This event will be proved very important event in the history of Pakistan. The Conference is also linked with 75th anniversary of Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Muhammad Ameer Sultan, MNA, Ms. Munaza Hassan, MNA, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, MNA, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, MNA, Mr. Jamshed Thomas, MNA, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, MNA, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, MNA, Ms. Maiza Hameed, MNA, Mr. Ali Zahid MNA, Mr. Noor-ul-Hassan Tanvir MNA, Mr. Numan Islam Sheikh MNA, Mr. Abdul Shakoor, MNA & Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, MNA and officials of M/o Foreign Affairs.
