MOTION

CHINA-PAKISTAN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR

       I move under Rule 244 (B) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007, that this House authorizes the Speaker, National Assembly to appoint a Committee for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), in consultation with the Chairman Senate and Leaders of the Parliamentary Parties, comprising twenty-one Members from the Assembly and the Senate.  The Speaker is also authorized to make changes in the composition of the Committee as and when the occasion may arise.

Functions of the Committee:

(1)     The Committee will perform function of oversight of CPEC projects;

(2)     The Committee will monitor the implementation of the projects and make recommendations for speedy and timely implementation of the projects;

(3)    The Committee may make suggestions for improvements that may result in cost and time reduction as well as provision of better services to the public;

(4)     The Committee will endeavor to promote consensus and support for CPEC in the    Federation;

(5)    The Committee will present its periodical reports to both Houses of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament); and

(6)    The Committee may make rules to regulate its procedure.
