NA Standing Committee on Interior Meets

Islamabad, 1st December 2021; 40th meeting of the Standing Committee on Interior was held today under the Chairmanship of Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, MNA, in the Constitution Room (old Committee Room No. 5), Parliament House, Islamabad.
The meeting commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. The Committee offered fatiha for late Mr. Mohammad Pervaiz Malik MNA, member of the Standing Committee on Interior. The Bill titled “The Frontier Corps (Amendment) Bill, 2021 (Government Bill)” was presented before the Committee and after detailed discussion, the Committee recommended that the Bill may be passed by the National Assembly. “The Pakistan Rangers (Amendment) Bill, 2021” (Government Bill) was presented before the Committee, and the Committee recommended that the Bill may be passed by the National Assembly.
The Committee considered the Bill titled “The Pakistan Coast Guards (Amendment) Bill, 2021” (Government Bill) and recommended that the Bill may be passed by the National Assembly. The Committee considered the Bill titled “The North-West Frontier Constabulary (Amendment) Bill, 2021 (Government Bill) and recommended that the Bill may be passed by the National Assembly. The Bill titled “The Torture and Custodial Death (Prevention and Punishment) Bill, 2021 (Government Bill)” was presented before the Committee and Committee decided to defer the Bill till its next meeting. The issues relating to allotment in the National Assembly Cooperative Housing Society were discussed by the Committee. The Committee was informed that most of the allotment issues have been resolved. The Committee directed Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and CDA to resolve the issues of the said society.
A Sub-Committee was constituted under the convener-ship of Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai, MNA with Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, MNA, Ms. Maryam Aurangzaib, MNA and Malik Karamat Ali Khokhar as members to examine “The Pakistan Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2021 (Section 17) (moved by Engineer Sabir Hussain Kaim Khani, MNA)”; domiciles of Islamabad issued during the last six months and appointments of Naib Qasid in Ministry of Interior. The Committee discussed the issue of encroachment on Lehtrar road Islamabad and expressed concerns over the ineffective performance of the anti-encroachment drive of CDA. The Committee directed the Member Admn CDA to visit Lehtrar road and submit a report to the Committee.  
The Committee took serious notice of the column written by Muhammad Sabah ud Din on 29-11-2021, in the daily Nawa-i-Waqat about the underperformance of Parliament and decided to call him in the next meeting. The Committee discussed the petition of MCI & CDA parking area contractors and directed the Ministry to make some policy to compensate the contractors, whose business was affected due to COVID-19.
Honorable Members/MNAs/Movers Mr. Sher Akber Khan, Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai, Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Nawabzada Shazain Bugti, Malik Sohail Khan, Rana Shamim Ahmed Khan, Mr. Nadeem Abbas, Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb, Syed Agha Rafiullah, Mr. Abdul Qadir Patel, Mr. Ali Nawaz Awan and the senior officers from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Law and Justice, Punjab Police, District Administration Rawalpindi, Capital Development Authority, Frontier Constabulary attended the meeting.
