The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs met in Parliament House, Islamabad this morning under the Chairmanship of Malik Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, MNA to discuss the Foreign Policy on Afghan issue.

The Committee highly appreciated the Foreign Policy of the present government on the Afghan issue as the world had started to realize the sacrifices and sincere efforts of Pakistan to bring peace in Afghanistan. The Committee urged upon the need for early formulation of the Afghan government to avoid ambiguity among the masses of Afghanistan and to negate the chances of their massive movement. The Committee also appreciated the establishment of a Special Cell in M/o Interior to evacuate the people especially Foreigners from Afghanistan and they were able to evacuate 4571 persons so far. Moreover, Pakistan would resume PIA Flights from Pakistan to Kabul to evacuate maximum people from Afghanistan.

The Committee also appreciated the current visit of Foreign Minister of Pakistan to neighboring countries to build a mutual consensus on the Afghan issue in order to extend due support for formulation of Afghan government which would be acceptable to all Afghanis to negate the chances of civil war in Afghanistan.

The Committee highly appreciated the recent announcement of Afghan Taliban that they would not allow to use their soil against any country. Moreover, the Committee appreciated the general amnesty of Taliban for Afghanis and allowing them especially women to restart their routine life which is a good gesture and appreciated at all forums.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Fazal Muhammad Khan, MNA, Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, MNA, Mr. Muhammad Ameer Sultan, MNA, Ms. Munaza Hassan, MNA, Mr. Jamshed Thomas, MNA, Mr. Ali Zahid, MNA, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, MNA, Ms. Zahra Wadood Fatemi, MNA, Ms. Maiza Hameed, MNA, Mr. Nauman Islam Sheikh, MNA, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, MNA, Mr. Abdul Shakoor, MNA and Mr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, MNA participated through video link and officials of M/o Foreign Affairs were also present in the meeting.
