NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO COMMEMORATE INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AT PARLIAMENT HOUSE ON 3RD DECEMBER

Islamabad: 2ndDecember, 2020: National Assembly Secretariat is hosting International day for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on 03rd December. The International day for PWDs 2020 with the theme “a Better Inclusive Post COVID-19 world for PWDs” would specially focus to commemorate the services of the PWDs and acknowledging their contributions in spite of their physical hardships and limitations.

The commemoration of this day in the Parliament is the result of Special initiatives of Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser for the welfare of PWDs and making them inclusive part of the Society. The Speaker’s initiatives for the welfare of the PWDs include formulating Special Parliamentary Committee on PWDs and issuance of directions to make Parliament building PWDs’ friendly. He also directed to make official website of the National Assembly readable for visually impaired and inaugurated the Special Mobile App “Equal Access” for integrating their data. He also focused to take Legislative initiatives for PWDs which would serve as policy interventions. He pledged that this day would be the day of resolution to continue this journey of making efforts for making PWDs part and parcel of socio-economic strata. This parliamentary supervision and oversight would prove a catalyst to support the efforts of all striving to bring positive changes in the lives of PWDs.  

The one day event would includes address by Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser , Minister for Human Rights Ms. Shireen Mazari,  Convener, Subcommittee on PWDs MNA Ms. Munaza Hasan. A documentary regarding Special initiatives for socio-economic inclusion of PWDs by Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser would also be displayed.  Ms.Zala Qaiser, Emerging Disability leader, Key Speech by Mr. Muhammad Atif Sheikh Executive Director STEP and Ms.Lina Mousa , Country Representatives  UNFPA would also address the event. Parliamentarians, Intelligentsia,   Representative Media Representatives would participate in the event.
