6th Meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC held in the Parliament House

Islamabad, Thursday, 5th September, 2019:  The Parliamentary Committee on CPEC, met here today (in-camera), at the Parliament House under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sher Ali Arbab, MNA to review the implementation status of the recommendations of the Committee given during the last meeting. Moreover, an exhausted agenda was also discussed in order to evaluate the feasibilities of different proposals and projects connected to CPEC being a well thought scheme to take the country out of crises by developing SEZ’s to work as engine of economic growth and progress.

The Chairman and the Members very keenly raised different questions during the briefings by the relevant Secretaries of the Ministries regarding their projects with remarks to complete the required need assessments and evaluation keeping in view the available budgetary provisions out of government resources as well as considerations of market forces to make them sustainable and viable.

At the end the Chairman also indicated that soon we shall be having our next meeting in Gwadar to meet the local people and see the progress of those projects in particular which are meant for the natives of the area in improving their living standard and providing them job opportunities.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Noor Alam Khan, Mr. Sadaqat Ali Khan, Ms. Zille Huma, Mr. Ghous Bux Khan Mahar, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Mr. Zahid Akram Durrani, Mr. Muhammad Aslam Bhootani, MNAs, Senatore Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi, Senator Dr. Shehzad Waseem, Senator Ahmed Khan and the Secretaries, Ministry of Planning, Development & Reforms, Secretary Power Division, Special Secretary Ministry of Interior and senior officers of Provincial Governments.
