13th meeting of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice was held today

Islamabad, 7th May, 2019; 13th meeting of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice was held today under the Chairmanship of Mr. Riaz Fatyana, MNA.
2.    The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran then the Committee decided to proceed with the agenda. The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on 2nd May 2019, and deferred the agenda item No.ii till its next meeting.
3.    The Committee considered the Bill “The Muslim Family Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Section 4) (Government Bill)” after detail deliberations the Committee deferred the Bill with observations that minor changes are required in the Bill hence the Ministry shall redraft the same and place before the committee in its next meeting.
4.   The Committee considered “The Muslim Family Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Section 7) (Government Bill)” after detail deliberations the Committee deferred the Bill with observations that Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology shall be requested to attend the next meeting.
5. The Committee considered the Bill “The Letters of Administration and Succession Certificate Bill, 2019 (Government Bill)” after detail deliberations the Committee deferred the Bill with observations that minor changes are required in the Bill hence the Ministry shall redraft the same and place before the committee after in its next meeting.
6.     Due to paucity of time the Committee remained unable to consider the Bills “The Enforcement of Women’s Property Rights Bill, 2019 (Government Bill); The Whistleblower Protection and Vigilance Commission Bill, 2019 (Government Bill); The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Amendment in Article 1, 51, 59, 106, 154, 175A, 198 and 218) (Moved by Rana Sana Ullah Khan, MNA); and The Legal Practitioner and Bar Councils (Amendment) Bill,2018 (Moved by Ms. Aliya Kamran, MNA)” hence the same are deferred till its next meeting.
7.     The Committee considered the Bill, “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Amendment in Article 51 and 106) (Moved by Mr. Mohsin Dawar, MNA)”. After detail deliberations the Committee recommended with majority that the Bill as amended by the Committee may be passed by the Assembly.
8.     The Committee considered the Bill, “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Amendment in Article 51 and 106) (Moved by Mr. Sajid Khan, MNA)”. After detail deliberations it was observed by the Committee that as the similar Bill of another private member has been recommended to be passed by the assembly so the Mover has requested to withdraw the same, hence the Committee recommends that the Bill may not be passed by the Assembly
9.    Hon. Members/MNAs/Movers Mr. Atta Ullah, Mr. Muhammad Farooq Azam Malik, Ms. Kishwar Zehra, Ms. Maleeka Ali Bokhari, Mr. Muhammad Sana Ullah Khan Masti Khel, Malik Muhammad Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, Mr. Sher Ali Arbab, Ms. Shunila Ruth,Khawaja Saad Rafique,Syed Hussain Tariq,Ms.Nafeesa Shah,Syed Naveed Qamar Ms. Aliya Kamran.Mr.Sajid Khan and Mr.Mohsin Dawar  attended the meeting besides the Minister for Law and Justice senior officers from the Ministry of Law and Justice with their staff, Secretary Election Commission, representatives of NADRA and representatives of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics attended the meeting.
