Protection Of Women's Rights Is Inevitable To Build Progressive Society:- NA Speaker

Islamabad: March 7th, 2019: Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that protection of women's rights is inevitable for building of progressive society and to provide them equal opportunities in every sector was the foremost priority of the incumbent government. Appreciating the role of women for society's progress and prosperity, Speaker said that women folk need to be encouraged and motivated and the present government is committed for the protection of women’s rights and providing them safe environment. He expressed these views in his message on the occasion of International Women’s Day being commemorated every year on 8thMarch under the auspicious of United Nations across the world.

The Speaker said that the global community needs to take joint efforts and practical measures for legislation in order to protect women's rights and to deal with the issues of gender discrimination and violence being faced by the women in the world. He said that Islam gives equal rights to women and strictly prohibited gender discrimination. He said that to give them their due status we need to change the mindset and behavior and joint efforts are needed to bring them in mainstream.He said that to empower women and to make them economically independent we need to bring them in economic sphere.  “Women’s contribution in economic sphere will be helpful to encourage and empower them”, he added. He said that the present government intended to make Pakistan such a country where women will have the opportunities to participate in every field of life with respect and self-esteem.

On this occasion Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri has said that more than half of the country’s population comprises of women and protection of their rights is included among the top priorities of the present government. He said that the Constitution of Pakistan guaranteed women the protection of life, property, business, education, independence of choosing of occupation and participation in social and political activities. He said the present Government was taking various steps to bring women into the National mainstream.
