N.A. Standing Committee On States And Frontier Regions (Safron) met today

Islamabad, 29th March, 2018: A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) met today in Committee Room of old PIPS, Parliament Lodges, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Muhammad Jamal ud Din, MNA. The Committee considered “The Tribal Areas Rewaj Bill, 2017” briefly and recommended that the said Bill may not be passed by the Assembly. Members of the Committee were of the view that a Bill regarding the extension of jurisdiction of Peshawar High Court and The Supreme Court has already been passed by the Assembly and be tabled in the Senate in due course of time. The Committee also discussed the issue of delay in transfer of posts of 89 Badarga Force of the Gomal Zam Dam project of South Waziristan Agency, FATA from Water Wing to Power Wing in detail and recommended that the Chairman, Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) resolve the issue of their regularization on priority basis and submit report to the Committee accordingly.

2. The Committee also discussed the issue of disparity in salaries, allowances of the Federal Levy and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and recommended that the Ministry of SAFRON, FATA Secretariat and other stakeholders look into the matter and prepare proposals for the Committee to bring the salary of the Federal Levy at par with the KP Police and Islamabad Police and submit report to the Committee within fifteen days accordingly.

3. The Committee showed its great concern on the delay of the development projects/schemes in FATA and recommended that the Finance Division release the third quarter without any further delay in order to complete the ongoing schemes in FATA in time.

4. The Committee further discussed the issue of non-regularization of staff of FATA Education Foundation in detail and recommended that the Ministry of SAFRON, FATA Secretariat and FATA Education Foundation look into the matter and regularize the staff of FATA Education Foundation as per decision of the Court.  

5. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Muhammad Nazir Khan, Begum Tahira Bukhari, Ms. Iffat Liaqat, Sheikh Fayyaz-ud-Din, Mr. Aftab Shaban Mirani, Ms. Surraiya Jatoi, Mr. Shahjahan Baloch, Mr. Qaiser Jamal, Mr. Nasir Khan, Muhammad Kamal Malik, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, Mr. Bilal Rehman and Mr. Bismillah Khan MNAs, Minister of State and Officers/Officials of the Ministry and its attached Departments.
