NA Standing Committee on Housing and Works Meets

Standing Committee on Housing and Works met today i.e. 15th November, 2017, under the Chairmanship of Mian Abdul Mannan, in Committee Room No.7, Parliament House, Islamabad. The Committee was briefed by the Director General, Pak PWD regarding ongoing and proposed projects by Ministry of Housing and Works. He also briefed the Committee about the HR strength of Pak PWD.

The Committee considered the matter with regard to Calling Attention Notice on policy decision of the Government, not to allot Government Accommodation in future to the employees of Constitutional Bodies. The Secretary Ministry of Housing and Works informed that a Summary in this regard has already been forwarded to the Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan to lift the said sanction. The Committee directed that the subject matter should be expedited by the Ministry on Top Priority.

The Committee also directed the Ministry of Housing and Works to renovate the Federal Lodges at Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi. The Committee members have shown their concern about the worst condition of Chamba House Punjab, Lahore. The Committee members were of the opinion that a Sub-Committee should be constituted on the ongoing projects i.e. Bhara Kahu, Thallian, F-14 & F-15, G-13, G-14 and G-10/2 Flats.  However, the Committee decided that an exclusive meeting would be convened to discuss the Housing Foundations’ issues. The Committee has shown its displeasure on the delay of construction of Moosa Khail Tounsa Road (35 KM), which is was also called Zhob Link Road in Balochistan. The Committee directed the DG Pak PWD for renovation of Fatima Jinnah Hostel, Islamabad.

The Committee recommended that new housing project should be started for the Federal Government employees, at the earliest.
