Islamabad, the 24th October, 2016: The Standing Committee on Law and Justice met today under the Chairmanship of Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, MNA in the Parliament House, Islamabad to consider The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Insertion of new Article 19-B) (moved by Ms. Munaza Hassan, MNA), The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 224A] (Moved by Mr. Muhammad Muzamil Qureshi, MNA), The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 77] (Moved by Mr.Sajid Ahmed, MNA), The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 106] (Moved by Ms. Asiya Nasir, MNA) and The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 {Amendment of Article 51, in clause (6)} (moved by Ms. Naeema Kishwer Khan, MNA).

2. The Committee considered The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 224A] (Moved by Mr. Muhammad Muzamil Qureshi, MNA) was considered in detail and recommended that the Bill might not be process for further legislation as there was logic in the Constitutional provision while its omission  would create a vacuum. The Committee considered the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 106] (Moved by Ms. Asiya Nasir, MNA) in detail. The Committee recommended not to process it further for legislation with the view to move the amendment after the population census in the country. The Committee also discussed the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 {Amendment of Article 51, in clause (6)} (moved by Ms. Naeema Kishwer Khan, MNA) in detail and recommended not to approve the said Bill with the view that prevailing procedure for nomination on women reserved  seats in the Assemblies was according to the law. The Committee deferred the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Insertion of new Article 19-B) (moved by Ms. Munaza Hassan, MNA) and the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 [Amendment of Article 77] (Moved by Mr.Sajid Ahmed, MNA) for further discussion in the upcoming meeting.       

3. The meeting was attended by MNAs Justice (Retd.) Ifitkhar Ahmad Cheema,  Ms. Kiran Haider, Mr. Rajab Ali Khan Baloch, Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Soomro Mr. S.A Iqbal Quadri, Ms. Aisha and Mr. Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi, Ms. Naeema Kishwer Khan, Ms. Asiya Nasir MNA/Mover of the Bill were also present in the meeting.
